OLD BUSINESS

Memorial Book –It is up to date now. Nancy Jo will keep updated.

Church information folders in the pew – need to be updated, current website, email, etc. There was some discussion of including a card for comments and the statement on the back of the bulletin. Please look it over and come with comments for the next meeting.

Elders Council – the idea came up last year. There is a desire to honor the elders in our church, as well as gain from their wisdom and historical perspective. Perhaps a potluck or evening spaghetti dinner would be a good venue. This is still in the idea stage.

History Project – Mike brought a digital version of the centennial history book. It is in pdf format and ready to be put on the web. Nancy Jo will give it to John Wetherill, our web master. The period from 1980 to the present has not been documented. Larry volunteered to be the historian for 2005. He will talk with the PR committee and see how we might work together.

Welcome Package – Nancy Jo has been working on a church information packet that would be given to all new home buyers in the mountains. She will be working with the PR committee as well.

Prayer Shawl Ministry – Carolyn gave an update on the group and said that about 20 shawls had been given out since they began. Anyone interested is invited to knit with them on the 2nd Tuesday evening of the month.

NEW BUSINESS

Phone Tree - Stephen will create and distribute an updated phone tree for the deacons. This will be used in cases when all church members need to be notified of an event.

Proposed Intern: Stephen sent a proposal that the deacons interview Kristen Pratt as our intern for the ’06-’07 school year. There was some discussion that we be certain the funds exist before offering her the position. Nancy Jo and Larry will check into this before scheduling an interview.

Bible Study – Pam Nates held an organizational meeting and 11 women attended.

Youth participation in service – David Cook spoke to the idea of more youth participation. He felt that the interest was there. Nancy Jo will contact Sarah de Falla to let her know that deacons are open to more youth participation.

Possible retreat – There was some discussion about the benefit of whole congregation gatherings. This might be a time to honor and hear from our elders. There was agreement that the spaghetti dinner in January was one such event. It was suggested that Nancy Jo write a formal thank you note to the women’s group for sponsoring the spaghetti dinner. She will also give a verbal appreciation next Sunday at church.

Lenten Study – The question of a Lenten study was brought up. Nancy Jo said that she understood that Stephen was planning a series of reflective sessions for Lent.

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Busam
