A prayer
Review of the agenda.
Minutes were approved as submitted
The Treasurer’s Report (Gerry Alonzo) was given, stating the pledges were slightly below forecast ($2300). There still remain some minor problems with the new accounting system (Quick Books), but overall we are making progress. In addition, Gerry gave us the status on:
1) The kitchen project which showed we are about $7700 over the projected funding, with some other bills still to be paid. Possible estimate for total overage might be $10,000.
2) The 10K run this year brought in a record high, net income about $7000.
3) The Harvest festival net was $15,784, which considering there was not the condo income, was very good.
Old Business:
Housekeeping
It was indicated that it was time to clean gutters before the rain starts. This will begin next week with Stephen and Jim Bowen.
Other cleaning of church grounds will be Saturday Dec. 2nd
The Mercury Vapor Light above Whitaker has a problem and the fixture and bulb will be checked soon.
Kitchen project
Larry indicated the furnace has been cleaned and the new thermostat installed so we are ready for winter.
Fern gave an update on the kitchen project. She gave the group a tentative schedule of work that still needed to be completed. There was progress to be made on the floor and the counter tops.
There was discussion of the counter top height; the present plywood which will be the base of the tops is about 1 inch low, if we want the tops to be flush with the window sills. If the trustees wanted to approve, an additional 1 inch piece of plywood could be placed on top to raise the level. A motion was made by Pippa, and seconded by Gerry, to do this and the motion was passed. Fern indicated work would begin very soon.
A tour of the kitchen then ensued, with Fern explaining the various things that had been accomplished and things that were to be done. The expectation is we are almost there and Thanksgiving might be a conservative completion date.
Kitchen Reopening Celebration
A tentative date of December 10th was given; details and schedule will be discussed at the next meeting.
New Business:
Coffee Hour
The Trustees will be responsible for this for October/November with the exception of special events. An assignment list will be posted indicating assignments and asking for volunteers if necessary.
Tree trimming
Larry explained the hazards that exist with the tree that over hangs the church. Discussion was held as to whether to trim or cut the tree down. Larry had outside discussions with various experts and will present information to The Council at its Oct.17th meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:45pm.
