Details

The meeting was called to order by Nancy Jo at 7:30 p.m.

Stephen opened with a prayer

Members volunteered for the following duties:

Liturgist : Sept. 17 – Larry Lopp

Sept. 24 – Nancy Jo Lopp

Oct. 1 – Carolyn G-T

Communion – Oct. 1 – Julie V.. will bring bread

Nancy Jo, Richard L., Larry C. and Julie will serve Communion (Larry C. and Richard will collect the offering)

The minutes for July and August were approved.

SERMONS and services for the three weeks that Stephen was gone received favorable comments. It was noted that the service flows better when the officiator for communion is either the preacher or the liturgist.

MORE FREQUENT communion? The question was raised as to whether it might be a good idea to have communion more than once a month. This could be in conjunction with the church liturgical seasons. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

PATRICIA WOOD met with us to begin the process for being in-care with the NCNCUCC. (No. Calif. Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ) It was moved, seconded and passed that she be recommended for in-care status with the NCNCUCC. We agreed that she could meet with the Deacons in late August, January and June to keep communication open.

POLICY ON IN-CARE, Four-Way Covenant and Ministerial Intern Relationships was discussed with attention being given to involving the congregation in approval of Four-Way Covenants. This will be discussed further at the next meeting. The current document will be presented to the Council at their October meeting.

The next meeting will be a dinner meeting (6:30) at Nancy Jo Lopp’s home – spouses and significant others are invited.

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Busam
