Summary: Report on retreat plans, holiday Giving Tree and Christmas potluck responsibilities. Report by Joan on items recommended for kitchen remodel and cost as researched by the kitchen committee.

SKYLAND CHURCH – WOMEN’S GROUP

November 1, 2005

The meeting was held at Fern Thompson’s. Mary Ellen called the meeting to order at 10.10.

Those in attendance were Diane Cooke, Mary Ellen McTamaney, Julie Victorine, Mary Skillicorn, Dorothy Ellis, Jan Swayne, Patricia Wood, Brenda Jatho, Jan Geist, Ruth Dawkins, Margretta Dollard, Joan Law, Janis Smith, Paula Leary, and Fern Thompson.

Club members cracked walnuts for sale at the next Harvest Festival. Nuts were donated by Diane Cooke. Paula Leary volunteered to freeze the cracked nuts until the next Harvest Festival.

Julie Victorine lead us in prayer.

The October minutes were corrected to show that there should be four other people besides the president to authorize money expenditures during the summer months. Ruth Dawkins moved and Janis Smith seconded that the minutes be approved as corrected. The minutes were so approved.

Diane Cooke passed out the treasurer’s report. We have $698.77 in the bank.

OLD BUSINESS:

l. Cards were sent around for Katerina Zajicoba, Sally Mitchell, Debbie Blessing, and Ron Nielsen.

2. RETREAT: Julie Victorine reported that we could not get Villa Maria Del Mar for our retreat on Jan. 27th. She will try to book us for Fed.18th. She will also request the program “Celebrating Friendship�. Cost is $25 which includes a lunch.

3PASTA DINNER: The Women’s Club will sponsor a pasta dinner for congregation members, families and friends on Friday, Jan. 27th from 6:30 to 8:30. It is hoped that this will be a family get together night.

Set Up Committee: Jan Swayne chairperson, Joan Law, Jan Geist, Mary Skillicorn, and Fern Thompson.

Clean Up Committee: Janis Smith chairperson, Margaretta Dollard, and Jan Swayne.

Meal Committee: Jan Geist chairperson, and Patricia Wood.

Jan Geist passed around a sign up sheet for donations of food items.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. GIVING TREE: Brenda Jatho will chair this committee. Patricia Wood will donate lights for the tree. We would like to sponsor a local family again this year. Terry Clark and Stephen Glauz-Todrank will be asked to locate a mountain family in need if possible.

2. CHRISTMAS POT LUCK: Sunday, Dec. 18th will be our annual Christmas potluck. Members of the women's club will bring main dishes. Other church members will be asked to bring salads and deserts.

CLEAN UP: Margaretta Dollard, Paula Leary, Janis Smith, Diane Cooke, Julie Victorine.

3. KITCHEN REMODEL: Joan Law presented a list of desired items for a kitchen upgrade giving the minimum and maximum bids for appliances and the recommended prices. She showed two proposed plans for the kitchen remodel and explained both. Then she conducted a survey of what items each woman felt was best and needed.

NEXT MEETING: Jan 2nd at Nancy Jo Lopp’s. Patricia Wood will lead us in devotions. There will be no meeting in December.
