Minutes for Memorial CommitteeMeeting date: 2010-03-23 Next meeting: 2010-03-24 These minutes have not yet been approved. Submitted by: Donald Law Attendees:
Summary: Plans for beginning work on the memorial were discussed Details The meeting was opened by prayer at 7:45
The chairman distributed an update of the 104 names currently suggested for plaques. Margretta is going to attempt to find the year-of-death for some of the members whose names were collected from the 100-year church history. All members were invited to review the list for possible additions.
Larry reviewed plans for beginning work on the memorial structure. He indicated that the drilling for support posts will be done by hand to minimize damage to the roots of the large oak tree. This will entail use of some paid labor but will eliminate the need for hiring large equipment. The work is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
The plans call for building the wall out of light-weight concrete blocks and rebar, which in turn are supported by the concrete posts. The wall will then be surfaced with stone. Catalogs showing various stone concepts were circulated.
The meeting was closed at 9:15 PM. The next meeting date will depend upon the physical progress of the project.
