Minutes for Women's Group CommitteeMeeting date: 2010-03-02 Next meeting: 2010-04-06 These minutes have been approved. No further changes to these minutes will be permitted. Submitted by: Jackie Seymour Attendees:
Summary: Discussed retreat, changed date of book discussion to Apr 10, made garden tour a no charge event, we'll bring food that can be taken to T'Shala's covenant 4/18, contributed to CHD Details The women's group met at Fern Thompson's house. Ruth Dawkins gave an inspirational reading on God's help with aging. Sunshine cards were sent to welcome Janis and Wes to their new home, and to thank Yael for leading the retreat. Minutes from Feb. meeting were reviewed and approved. Fern gave the treasurer's report. Our retreat was financially successful and we have a very healthy balance.
Retreat Rehash -- Everyone felt the retreat went very well. Yael empowered people to participate at their own level; everyone felt nourished. Things to do better next year, maybe -- longer day 9AM to 4PM, some more quiet time and perhaps a small talk from the leader, less food.
Gardening Tour -- It was proposed and approved that instead of asking for a $10 fee it will be free and we will take our gift money out of our treasury. Fern will get the gift.
Book Discussion -- Six people said they were committed to reading the book, Faith Club, and attending a book discussion. It was decided to change the date to accommodate our late start and to accommodate those who couldn't come in the middle of the day. Nancy Jo offered her house for a meeting place, on Saturday April 10th at 1:30 PM. Linda offered to lead the discussion, Jackie will help.
Luncheon in Mountain View -- Date is May 20th, Paula and Carol will give details at the next meeting. Plan a mid morning departure.
T'Shala's new covenant with Hospice of Santa Clara Co. April 18th -- The women's group has been asked to contribute food and a coordinator for this event. A request was made for someone to co-ordinate but no one accepted. Jackie will let the deacons know that they can provide a coordinator. Everyone will bring food, dips, sandwiches, cookies, etc some for the pot luck on Sunday morning and some to be taken to the church at Hamilton and Leigh where the ceremony will occur.
Center for Healthy Development -- Jackie read a letter from Julie Victorine who couldn't be present in person requesting assistance for the families who take in foster children. It was discussed, voted and approved to contribute $250 to the center. Fern will send a check.
In May some women in our congregation will be turning 90. Nancy Jo will coordinate with the deacons and report back to us at the next meeting.
Diane Cooke offered her home for our last meeting on June 1st.
Everyone smiled as our yearly pictures were taken by Nancy Jo.
Next meeting is April 6th, Devotional by Dorothy, Food by Mary Skillicorn and Jan Geist.
