Summary: Budget discussion, fire protection discussion Details Maire Howard called the meeting to order.
Stephen Glauz-Todrank led us in prayer.
Secretary’s Report: Pippa Siersema moved and Terry Clark seconded that the minutes be approved. They were so approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Jerry Alonzo gave copies of the treasurer’s report to those attending. He stated that the church has received $92,763 in pledges for next year.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Fire Protection: Lynn Nixon moved and Bruce Victorine seconded that fire protection become the church’s number one priority. This motion was approved. The trustees will present the change to the church membership.
2. Remodel Report: Joan Law and Bruce Kraeger will be presenting a report to the trustees.
3. Religious Education: T’Shala Olivieri explained the Religious Education board’s request for more funds. She stated that members have donated funds for supplies, curriculum, and events. She explained the change in requested funds for staffing the nursery and carrying on the youth program. The church is offering to pay $40 per Sunday for a person to man the nursery. We have a couple of leads for such a person but so far have no-one to staff the nursery. The youth need more field trips and/or camping outings. They may work with the homeless.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Budget: The trustees went over the budget and discussed how to balance same. We have a $17,000 shortfall. Maire Howard will present the budget to the church council on May 15th.
2. PR: Pippa Siersema will try to have events announced in the “Mountain Network News�.
3. New Members: The trustees discussed ways to encourage new membership. They discussed forming an outreach committee to contact new mountain residents.
4. Vision: The vision for the church was discussed. It was decided that this vision needs to be communicated. This could be done through church announcements, at the council meetings, or through emails. Larry Cooke will be requested to compose an email for the church membership stating the church’s vision.
