Details

Stephen opened the meeting with a prayer.

Brook opened the meeting in the absence of Maire at 7:18.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. HARVEST FESTIVAL TRASH: The trash from the Harvest Festival is in the truck of Margretta Dollard’s. Brook and Pippa offered to take the trash to the dump.

2. GUTTER CLEANING: Larry Lopp requested that the trustees clean the gutters at the church. Trustee members will meet at the church this Saturday at 2 P.M. to clean the gutters and have a fall walk around.

3. FIRE PROTECTION: Brook reported that he is in contact with CDF in Felton requesting requirements the church needs to meet for fire protection. Jerry Alonzo has offered to donate up to $15,000 for this project. Brook also is checking into county requirements for fire protection with our remodel project. He reported that we can put in a 5,000 gallon tank without having the pad engineered. He proposed that we get two 5,000 gallon tanks. The church does not need to run a fire hydrant out to the road. Brook will look into whether we can hook the fire water tank into our drinking water.

4. KITCHEN REMODEL: Brook presented a proposed kitchen remodel plan using the confines of the roof area. This plan moves the outside wall to the edge of the roof and moves the wall between the present kitchen and the choir room. The trustees requested that Brook and Joan Law present their research to the trustees.

5. TRUSTEE SUBSTITUTE: Replacement possibilities for the remaining term of Lars Tanner were suggested. Maire will phone candidates for this position.

6. WELCOME PACKET: Nancy Jo Lopp, Pippa and others are working on editing a packet about the church to be mailed to new mountain residents. This packet will include a welcome, the history of the church, a letter from Stephen, and other pertinent information. We will use Debbie Blessing’s photo of the church. The packet will give Debbie credit for the use of her photo.

7. ROOF FOR THE NEW WATER PUMP: Lynn Nixon, Larry Lopp, and Gene Geist will work on this project.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. COFFEE DUTIES: Maire passed around a sign-up sheet for hosting the coffee hour after church. The list follows:

Oct. 16 – Pippa

Oct. 23 – Fern

Oct. 30 – Bruce

Nov. 6 - Terry

Nov. 13 - Brook

2. FURNACE FILTERS: Jerry Alonzo will be consulted about this project.

3. SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING: We invited the church moderator, Larry Cooke, to explain the church finances to the trustees. He presented several different representations of the church’s financial structure and where we are financially.

Stephen closed the meeting with a prayer.

Sat. at 2 P.M. is the gutter clean-up and fall walk around.

Our next Trustees meeting will be at Fern Thompson’s on Nov. 10th at 7 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Fern Thompson
