Summary: Meeting was devoted to discussing Harvest Festival

Details

The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm. Stephen Glauz-Todrank gave an opening prayer.

Treasurer's Report: The May minutes were approved with a minor change to the Trustee's costs.

Gerry reviewed the estimated end of the year financials. As of the end of May the income was down $3,651 but the Disbursements were also down $5,512 leaving a net $1,861 surplus, which will reduce the general fund's shortfall of $4,853.

Old Business: There were no committee reports. Most of the meeting was taken up discussing the Harvest Festival. Some of Sarah Overson's questions were answered, with the remainder to be covered later by Larry Cooke. The rest of the discussion dealt with defining the tasks and finding leaders for them.

The Deacons will cover the greeting booth. The Trustees will do set up and tear down on the preceding and subsequent Saturdays. Communications with Nancy Jo will handle marketing and Music & Arts will cover the music. Don Law agreed to cover Produce, and Pippa said she could help with the Plants again. Larry will get a storage Pod in July, and order the Jumper again. Mary Ellen said they will be expanding Jams & Jellies to include soap and other small craft items.

It was suggested that children's activities, children's food, clothing, and kitchen wares may be eliminated, leaving more space for a larger odds & ends booth. Garden tools and sports equipment could be put next to the Plant booth. Donations could then be limited to items in good working order, but no clothing or electronics. After further discussion, it was generally agreed that the final details should be left to the Harvest Festival committee and individual leaders.

Larry and Sarah will hold a kick-off meeting Sunday June 21st, after Church.

Pastor’s Report: Stephen described the plight of Phoebe, a homeless friend of one of the church's members, what has transpired over the last 6 weeks, and asked what help we think he should provide in the future. The council pointed out that we do not have the facilities necessary to house anyone needing shelter, and as such need to limit our support to food, money, advice, and connections to other charitable organizations. The rest of the council meeting was devoted to Harvest Festival discussions.

Following a closing Prayer led by Stephen, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Larry Cooke
