Old Business

The planning for the Skyland Run began in earnest as we ate supper at the Lopp's house. Nancy Jo showed us her terrific preliminary designs for the T- Shirt and the Posters. Jennifer has been busy registering the Run online through www.schedule.com/allsportscentral.com. She also has a hard copy registration form that will be mailed out to all the past participants. It was suggested that we get a website www.skylandrun.com and it link to the Skyland Church website. So Larry, Nancy Jo, Jennifer and John Wetherill will work on that.

Nancy Jo will order more banners; 3 new 2’X4' banners to replace the wooden signs that will be recycled/discarded.It was decided to hang the 2X4' banners in 3 locations: one by the 17/Summit stop sign and one at the stop sign at Old San Jose/Summit and one at the Summit Store. She will also order 1 new 3X10' banner for downtown Los Gatos (needs permit). Anne said that she would be willing to distribute flyers, posters and hand-outs.

We are trying to get a booth at the Fireman's BBQ for registration and information. Stephen said that he would man the booth from 1PM-4PM.

We will communicate with the schools to promote the run before the schools get out. Jan Parker said she would help contact the schools. Bill said that he would contact Loma/CT and the High School and Jan could contact Lakeside and Lexington.

Terry really wants to get 300 runners so he wants to particularly get additional help for Timing/Runners and for parking. Those are jobs that will need extra help with extra people.

Bill will do the timing again and will be the run director in 2010.

Bill will inventory the necessary bibs and stickers that are stored in the shed.

Harold volunteered to head up emergency support and contact the necessary organizations. He asked again for more help with the parking.

Given the economic climate, Terry also wants to cast the net wider to bring in more sponsors. Sponsors pay $150 and get a line on the back of the T-shirt. You can give the contact name to Terry or a sponsor letter can go on the website or a hard copy can be handed out to the congregation.

Anne will contact last year’s chairs for the breakfast, Awards, Music and Kids Run to see if they would volunteer again. Then the non-members of the Mission Board were excused.

Old Business

Anne reported on the amazingly successful completion of packing up the two Botswana Book Drives. The Mmakagori Book Drive packed 927 books into 14 boxes, the Omaweneno Book Drive packed 926 books into 19 boxes. We had a lot of help but Anne especially wanted to thank Angela/Bill/Sophie for collecting 250 more books. On April 8th the crew will reassemble to ship the boxes from the Redwood Estates Post Office.

Anne and Jan Swayne called Julia in Botswana. She has a new name "Neo" or gift. She has met a large contingent of PTA, teachers and students and is being followed by the Botswana Press and TV.

Stephen and Jan are prepared to lead the Crop Walk on April 26th.

The UCC fundraiser (100K Virtual Run) raised $2200 for the UCC Conference Staff.

New Business

At the next meeting we will discuss Randy and Glenda’s trip to Fiji this summer with Connie Durant and the High School Students.

We will also discuss Bread for the World.

Harold mentioned that he and Gene Geist are being honored at the SC County Courthouse for their service at the Sheriff’s Substation.
