Summary: First meeting with new trustees: roles defined, preparation for annual budget, preparation for congregation presentation on kitchen remodel Details Maire opened the meeting with a prayer.
MINUTES AND TREASURER’S REPORT: Maire passed out both the minutes and treasurer’s report.
Maire Howard was selected as committee chair and Fern Thompson was chosen as secretary. Maire volunteered to be trained in use of our new church email site.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Lynn Nixon reported that the volunteer firemen were not interested in sharing pancake breakfasts with Skyland Church at this time. After a brief discussion it was decided to table discussions of future breakfasts until next meeting.
2. KITCHEN REMODEL: On March 12th the trustees are scheduled to present plans for the kitchen remodel for the congregation approval. At that time the trustees will present a design layout for the remodel job. Joan Law should have a complete layout by Feb. 18th. Brook Kraeger is in contact with the architecture concerning a possible iron beam being required for a load bearing wall. The trustees will finalize the plans at their next meeting on March 9th.
3. WELCOME PACKAGE: Pippa is working on compiling information for this package to be mailed to each new mountain resident. Nancy Jo Lopp is preparing Debbie Blessing’s photograph of the church. Ruth Dawkins has agreed to write a brief history of the church for the packet.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. CONSECRATING STEWARDS: Pippa will ask three members of the church to talk about why they became members of the church. One person will speak at each of these three services: Feb. 26th, March 5th, and March 12th.
2. PLEDGE DRIVE: Pledges are due on March 19th. Jim Bowen and Larry Lopp will compose a letter to send to people who pledged last year and/or all church members. After March 19th Gerry Alonzo will submit a list of people who didn’t pledge. The trustees will phone those people to remind them to pledge. Each church committee will be asked to submit their requests for funds for the coming year. Then the trustees will make a budget. Larry Lopp gave his input as to how he would like to see requesting pledges handled.
4. TRUSTEE’S CALENDAR: Maire made a calendar for the trustees. Dates will be filled in as they become known.
5. HOUSEKEEPING. Wes Smith volunteered to try to fix the leak in the kitchen sink. Wes will also be responsible to check the water level in our water tank each Sunday. Spring cleanup will be Sat., April 8th. All church members are invited to help with this cleanup.
Next regular meeting will be a 7 P.M. on Thurs., March 9th at Poppa’s home.
