Summary: Details Mary Ellen led the opening prayer since Stephen wasn't at the meeting.
Gerry gave the financial report. He says pledges are not coming in on a regular basis. This may be due to lump sums that will arrive in the future. The major concern is whether they will be coming in at all. Gerry will research this some more.
We discussed the reception after church on October 26th. People will be invited up to talk about their experience with the remodel. Gina W. will bring a cake.
We talked about the upcoming congregational meeting. The date was set for January 25th.
We talked about the nominating committee. Mary Ellen, Gina W., Jeremy Cole volunteered to be on the committee. Stephen will also be on the committee. Gina will ask Don Law to be on the committee and ask if he will be the chair. (Note: Since this council meeting, Gina spoke with Don and he agreed to be the chair.)
Board and Committee Reports:
BCS - There is a new way of doing the newsletter so it arrives before the first of the month for which it covers.
Deacons - Booth at Harvest Festival was successful. Want to do it again next year. People liked the Skyland bags.
Missions - Collecting money for books and shipping for African Library project
Music and Arts - Figuring out ways to use the new piano more. Music at potluck Sundays and other events. Terry and Erica are planning a community Christmas carol sing-along for Dec. 18th.
Rel Ed. - There is a small but faithful group of regulars in Sunday school. Some parents are coming to church because the kids like it here. We need two adults every week.
Trustees - broken branches in back?
Women's Group - Planning spaghetti dinner, women's retreat in February, wine tasting, christmas potluck and beading class.
Misc:
Lou and Larry set up shelves for food, asked Wes not to take food downtown, set up program for those less fortunate, bags of groceries, soup days, firewood to people who need it. Vouchers for Summit Store? Deacons in leadership role. Open committee meeting? Blurb in newsletter and MNN.
