The meeting was called to order at approximately 12:15 by Marcia Rollins. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Housekeeping tasks were assigned. There was a brief discussion of our booth at Harvest Festival. The reusable bags were a great success. Visitors showed interest in the display on being a green church. Thanks to Glenda for the design of the stencil for the bags and all who helped with decorating bags and greeting visitors, setup and breakdown of the booth. Thanks to Richard Lyness for setting up computers with the church website and working in the booth most of the day and to Mike Mahrle for the loan of his computer equipment. It was noted that there was interest in the website, but glare from the sun made the monitor hard to see. We may set up a computer inside next year.

It was decided to schedule the new member Sunday sometime in December or even January. The exact date will be decided later.

There was a discussion of ways that the Deacons can respond to the current state of the economy. Several church members have suggested increasing our stock of food in the pantry. Space has been cleared in the shed for storage. Some other ideas were having soup dinners if we see that there is a need. Members may also need personal and spiritual support if the impact of the economic downturn continues to get worse. It was agreed that this is a whole church matter and that other committees should be involved.
