Summary: Music and Arts discussed items for the yearly report, what went well so far, Harvest Festival music needs, an arts and spirituality book and the idea of a spring poetry event.

Details

John is working on the yearly report and asked for feedback from the committee members:

- The Loma Art Camp was a great success over the summer and will run again next summer.

- The music at the Skyland Run was terrific and the musicians, "Squeeze Daddy" played over their scheduled time voluntarily.

Patricia shared a new book called "Creating Change" about art and church spirituality. She found it to be very inspirational and suggested we consider reading it and having it for future Arts and Music Committee members. We will discuss the book at our October meeting as it will be released by the publisher by that time.

John will be gone traveling in September.

Erica asked for advice on Harvest Festival music choices. She will contact John Wetherill, Stephen, TShala, Gerry and Dana Scoby for starters. She asked who handled the sound system and learned that the Board of Communications handles that aspect. Erica will check for setup on the day of the Harvest Festival.

Erica also said she would work on a future poetry event for the spring timeframe. If there is anyone in the membership at large who would like to assist with this, Erica would like to work with volunteers.

Next meeting: October 19. John will send out a reminder.
