The meeting was hosted by Nancy Jo and was called to order by Jackie at 10:10AM.

Jackie gave the devotional reading.

Meeting minutes for the June were read. Mary Ellen motioned they be approved and Nancy Jo seconded the motion. June minutes were approved.

This year’s treasurer is Fern Thompson and Brenda Jatho is the secretary.

Sunshine Cards were signed and sent to Sally Mitchell, Janis Smith and Connie Cloyd.

Treasurer’s Report was submitted by Diane Cooke and presented by Fern. Amount in our account is $438.33. Jackie will check with other banks to see about reducing our $8 monthly fee at Wells Fargo.

Assignments – need people to sign up for the following:

• Pot Luck – Gina Adams? Will check to see if she wants to do it again this year.

• Alter Flowers Coordinator – Fern will purchase calendar. Nancy Jo and Linda will transfer information from the calendar to the Skyland calendar on-line.

• Kitchen Supplies – Fern

• Sunshine Cards – Brenda

• Phone Tree – Dorothy and Janis. To reduce the amount of time spent calling, Jackie will email Brenda, Mary Ellen, Nancy Jo, Carol, Diane and Terry. All others will be called.

Events – need chair people for the following:

• Spaghetti Dinner – January 23, 2009, Joan and Linda will co-chair

• Giving Tree – Brenda

• Christmas Pot Luck – December 21st, everyone will help.

• Retreat – Mary Ellen suggested that Kristen Pratt lead the retreat. Date will be determined depending on Kristen’s and the retreat locations availability.

• Easter Coffee Hour – Nancy Jo will coordinate tables the day before. Everyone else will help Easter Sunday.

Possible Activities

• A field trip of some kind, possibly a field trip to the Academy of Sciences Museum in San Francisco. Nancy Jo will research other museum possibilities.

• Cake Decorating – Linda

• Beading – November 15th, Brenda

• Collage Class – Jackie will speak to Christina Lopp to see how much she will charge.

• Wine Tasting – Maybe at the new winery. Will revisit this item later.

Other Discussions

Accessibility of meetings was brought up and the decision was made that meeting places should be accessible with very few stairs. Mary Ellen will check with Stephen about using the fireside room as a backup meeting place.

Support for ALP Open House was agreed upon. The event is Sunday, October 12th from 6:30 – 8:30. Admission is one book and 50¢. There will be a video and writing letters to children. Jackie, Carol, Joan and Nancy Jo will provide cookies. Jackie will also set up coffee and cider.

Joan found paper tablecloths that will be used for Advent Sunday. She also found three white cloth tablecloths that Linda will iron and return to church after each use.

Joan donated fabric for the new tablecloths. Thank you, Joan. Joan also wanted to thank Del, Carol Carre and Delores Bardin for hemming the fabrics to make tablecloths.

Nancy Jo suggested writing a note to the trustees thanking them for work on the bathrooms.

Joan talked to Larry Lopp about the possibility of seat covers for the women’s bathroom.

Next Meeting will be November 4th and held at Fern’s house. Jackie, Brenda and Del will bring food.

Next month’s devotional will be read by Ruth.
