Details

The meeting was hosted by Nancy Jo Lopp and was called to order by Mary Ellen McTamaney at 10AM

Attendees: Nancy Jo Lopp, Mary Ellen McTamaney, Brenda Jatho, Fern Thompson, Carol Greene, Jan Geist, Ruth Dawkins and Jackie Seymour. Since the recording secretary Del Mahrle was unable to attend, meeting minutes were taken by Jackie Seymour.

A devotional reading was given by Fern Thompson

Meeting Minutes for the February 5th meeting were read and accepted.

Sunshine Cards were signed for Dorothy Ellis and Sally Mitchell. A Thank You card was signed for Deborah Streeter.

Treasurer’s Report was submitted but Diane Cooke (although she couldn’t attend) and given by Mary Ellen. We made $100 on the retreat. Last year, 2007, the Women’s Group donated $200 to Valley Churches United and $504 to Children Incorporated. Diane will see about getting our monthly checking account fees eliminated.

Retreat review – All those attending the retreat thought it was a positive experience; there were no negative comments. It was described as moving and meaningful and some particularly liked that Deborah Streeter seemed so attuned to the group. The group is enthusiastic about future retreats and will begin to plan the next retreat (spring 2009) this fall.

Brenda Jatho reported that 17 people had signed up for the beading class on March 8th and that she expected more. It looks to be a very successful endeavor. Brenda will provide the lunch and be reimbursed for lunch expenses.

Easter Coffee Hour – Contact person -- Jackie Seymour

Set up – Fern Thompson

Decorations – Nancy Jo Lopp and Jackie Seymour

Arrange Food/hostess – Early service – Fern Thompson

Second service – Jackie Seymour and Nancy Jo

Clean-up – Jan Geist and Mary Ellen McTamaney will head the effort but everyone agreed to pitch in and help.

Soul Collage, April 19th – Ruth Dawkins is heading up this effort. Ruth will put a notice in the Mountain Network News and a short reminder in the newsletter for April. On April 6th, Carol Greene will make an announcement in church and on April 13th Ruth Dawkins will announce it. The cost is $25 and Mary Skillicorn is the contact person for signup. A blast email will be discussed at the next meeting to remind everyone a few days before the class. Ruth will get a picture of a collage card so we can see what it’s like.

Wine Tasting, May 9th – It was decided that the wine tasting would be open to Skyland Church and any friends they wish to invite. The tasting will start at 6:30PM and will cost $20 per person. We will bring appetizers (planning to be done at next meeting). A newsletter article with a photo of the wine will be done by Mary Ellen McTamaney for the April Newsletter. Jackie Seymour is the contact person for the wine tasting and will be accepting checks/reservations.

Other items –

We need a call backup system for times when Dorothy Ellis is unable to remind everyone, especially for those without email or that don’t check their email regularly.

Anyone who wants to take back their pictures from the friendship collage should take them.

Next meeting we will discuss ways to spend our money (charitable options) so the money doesn’t sit around being lazy. Ruth suggested VCU as one option, to be continued…

Many thanks to John Wetherill for adding the recipe section to the web site.

Del Mahrle bought a bulletin board to be used for the children to put their pictures on. Thank you Del.

A delicious lunch was served by Nancy Jo. MMMM, Nancy Jo, you are sooo good!!!

Next meeting, April 1st – Hostess is Fern Thompson, Devotional by Nancy Jo Lopp, Meeting to start at 10:15 AM instead of 10:00AM.
