Details

We met at the home of Diane Cooke.

Our leader, Mary Ellen, brought the meeting to order.

Joan Law led the devotional.

The minutes of last month’s meeting were approved as read on line.

Sunshine Cards were signed by the attending women and will be sent to Barbara Perry and Sally Mitchell. Dorothy, Ruth , and Fern expressed thanks for the cards sent to them last month.

Treasurers Report: Diane Cooke reports she will be in school this next semester, however she will remain treasurer. She will not be able to attend meetings however. She reports that this year’s starting balance was $701.00. The Spaghetti Dinner brought in 463.00. This brought the balance to $1,165.76. It was suggested that the women who provided food and materials for the dinner should turn in their bills to Diane. Jan Geist had done so. She was repaid $55.17. The bank service charge for January was $8.00. So the balance for January is $1,101.

Old Business:

The “spaghetti? dinner held on January 18, 2008 was a success. Joan Law, Jackie Seymore, Ruth Dawkins co-chaired the event. Jan Geist and Nancy Jo Lopp made sauce, Mary Skillicorn brought salad, Brenda brought bread, and Del Mahrle also helped with cooking. Diane Cook, Jan Geist, Jennifer Busam, and Paula Leary also helped with serving and cleanup. Christina Schwabecher decorated tables. It was suggested that people who worked this time write down the quantities of food it took to serve the Spaghetti Dinner. This year we had more spaghetti and bread than we needed. We also had some salad left over. Jan, Joan and Nancy Jo will meet to put together a report. They did report that it worked to use the china dishes. Dorothy offered to donate two large tablecloths for use next year. The storage of the tablecloths was debated. Nancy Jo moved we put the most popular table cloths on the shelves and keep the rest in boxes. The vote was unanimously yes.

Deborah Streeter will lead the women’s retreat on February 23, 2008. We will pay her $250.00. Julie Victorine will collect our $35.00 per person fees. We should arrive between 9:30a and 10:00a. The retreat will start at 10:00a. The deadline for signing up is February 10, 2008. Janis will bring yogurt. Jennifer will bring granola and fruit. Nancy Jo will bring oranges, Joan—Coffee Cake, Dorothy –juice, Carol—possibly Quiche or Deviled Eggs, and Del-- plates and napkins, and silverware. We may invite friends. Mary Ellen will send out an e-mail to the congregation.

Brenda reported that the second beading class will be held on March 8, 2008. She will announce it in the church newsletter.

Mary Ellen announced that Jackie Seymore has agreed to be the new president of the Women’s Club. All of the women attending were very happy to welcome Jackie into this role.

Barbara Broadbent will be leading a collage class after Easter, on April 19, 2008. We will each make a “Soul Collage?. We can bring our own pictures or Barbara will provide pictures we can use. The class will be held in Whittaker hall. There will be a salad lunch. Ruth will put an article in the newsletter. The Price will be $25.00. A poster will be put up two weeks before the event.

Mary Ellen also reported that The Women’s Group will be hosting a wine tasting at Silver Mountain Winery on Friday, May 9, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 P. M. This will cost the Women’s Group $10.00 per person. We will charge $20.00 per person. We need a minimum of 25 people to attend. We will provide Hors D’ouvres. We will also take care of the clean-up. .

We discussed Jackie’s suggestion that the women’s group become more involved in children’s activities. It was decided that Jackie and Del will work with the Children’s Coordinator to provide a children’s activity during coffee hour. We will also put up a display board for the children’s art work.

Nancy Jo requested baby pictures be sent to her. She is preparing a project for a Baptism.

Next meeting will be held on March 4, 2008 at Nancy Jo Lopp’s home. Fern Thompson will provide the devotional.

Respectfully Submitted,

Del Mahrle
