Details

We met at the home of Brenda Jatho. She provided a delightful spinach quiche in puff pastry and a pear tart. Both were delicious.

Our leader, Mary Ellen, brought the meeting to order.

Carol Greene, with Reginald Rabbit, led the devotional about New Year’s Resolutions.

Sunshine Cards were signed by the attending women and will be sent Dorothy Ellis, Ruth Dawkins, and Fern Thompson.

Old Business:

The Beading class on November 10, 2007 was very successful. Twelve people came and enjoyed learning how to bead. Brenda provided a tasty lunch. It was decided to repeat the beading class on March 8, from 10:00 to 2:00.

The Christmas Potluck, held on December 15, 2007, was successful, as was the Giving Tree. Brenda reported that the family which received the donations from the Giving Tree was very grateful. She read aloud a note of thanks written by the mother of that family.

The spaghetti dinner will be on January 18, 2008. Jan Geist will cook. Nancy Jo will cook if she is able. Del Mahrle also volunteered to help with cooking. Ruth Dawkins, Joan Law will co-chair the event. Diane Cook, Jan Geist, and Paula Leary will also help. Christina Schwabecher is going to decorate tables. We will charge $7.50 per person, $20.00 for families, and there will be no charge for children five and under.

Deborah Streeter will lead the women’s retreat on February 23, 2008. We will pay her $250.00. Suggested themes have been: “Love? and “The Environment?. Julie Victorine will collect our $35.00 per person fees. The deadline for signing up will be February 3, 2008.

Mary Ellen also reported that The Women’s Group will be hosting a wine tasting at Silver Mountain Winery on Friday, May 9, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:30 P. M. This will cost the Women’s Group $10.00 per person. We will charge $20.00 per person. We need a minimum of 25 people to attend. We will provide Hors D’ouvres. We will also take care of the clean-up.

Ruth Dawkins reported by phone that Barbara Broadbent will lead a workshop on a Saturday in April, 19 2008. The workshop will be held at Whitaker Hall from 10:00 A. M. to 4:00 P. M. We will pay Barbara $150.00. Lunch will be a Salad Potluck. Beverages will be provided. Charge per person has not been decided.

New Business:

Jackie suggested that the women’s group become more involved in children’s activities. We discussed several creative activities as well as participating in the nursery care of the children. Nothing was decided.

Nancy Jo requested baby pictures be sent to her. She is preparing a project for a Baptism.

Next meeting will be on February 5, 2008. It will be held at Diane Cooke’s home, 626, Townsend Drive, Aptos. Her Phone number is: 1-831-708-2390. Joan will provide the devotional.

Also, at the next meeting, Nancy Jo will be taking the women’s group picture. We decided that we all will wear something red for the picture.

Directions to Diane's:Rio Del Mar exit from hwy1, turn left on hwy 1 towards Watsonville. Take Rio Del Mar exit, go right toward beach, turn left on Cliff, when you reach Bay View turn left, then the next street is Townsend, turn right and house is on the right side # 626.

Respectfully Submitted,

Del Mahrle
