Details

The Women's Group met at home of Mary Ellen McTamaney at 10AM. The meeting was called to order. Mary Ellen read two poems and offered a prayer.

Meeting minutes were submitted by Mary Ellen for Del Mahrle, in absentia. The minutes were passed around and reviewed by all and accepted.

Sunshine cards were prepared for Dorothy Ellis and Joyce Haworth.

Diane Cooke gave the treasurer's report. The soap making class brought in $150, after expenses. Diane said that she would like someone else to take over the job when meetings resume in the fall. Diane has been the treasurer for three years and has done an outstanding job. Thank you Diane.

Those attending the soap making class thought it was valuable, interesting, and well presented. A suggestion was made to consider making soap for the the harvest festival.

Mary Ellen reported that the council would like the Women's Group to consider choosing a "Kitchen Czar" someone who would check on the state of the kitchen on a weekly basis to make sure it ran smoothly. Afer much discussion there were no volunteers so it was decided that everyone would attend to the kitchen and re-evaluate at the end of summer.

Joan Law suggested putting the lost and found items out on a table to facilitate the reconnection of items with owners.

Joan Law said that the diagram in the kitchen book had been relabeled to better identify the walls currently referenced by direction (north, south, etc.).

Fern Thompson reported that the trustees had ordered new chairs with cushioned seats and a new chair rack. The old chairs will be moved to lower Whitaker hall and other homes.

Nancy Jo Lopp offered to put up pictures of flowers above the second sink and also plakard with operating instructions for the dishwasher.

Mary Ellen listed the "visions" put forth by the vision committee. One of the ideas that was discussed as a possible project with a unisex bathroom, Fern Thompson said that it would require a good bit of money since the toilet had to be moved, and new urinal and sink would need to be purchased in addition to all the labor involved. Diane Cooke suggested that it would be nice to have a sliding door between the nursery and the bathroom. Joan Law moved to start a Bathroom Fund. It was seconded and agreed to unanimously. A second motion was made and passed that a donation toward the bathroom fund would be made in the fall of 2007.

Nancy Jo Lopp said that the address books would be ready for compilation next Wed. May 10th and received several offers of assistance.

The next meeting will be a luncheon meeting at Mary Skillicorn's home at 11 AM. There will be a short meeting with lunch to follow. A sign-up sheet for pot luck items was passed around.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:20.
