Summary: We discussed Emile’s cooking class, the Women’s retreat, The Spaghetti dinner, the new kitchen needs, the Christmas potluck, All Church Cleanup Day (12/02) Details We met at Diane Cooke’s home
Our leader, Mary Ellen, brought the meeting to order.
Jackie read a beautiful and worshipful poem that she composed.
Mary Ellen handed out the minutes of the last meeting.
Sunshine Cards were signed by the attending women and will be sent to: Janis Smith, encouraging continued healing from cancer surgery and chemotherapy; Al Hanson, and Carol Green, who is recovering from a complete mastectomy.
Terry Clark has had to resign as recording secretary. Del Mahrle volunteered to take her place.
Mary Ellen reported that Emile’s restaurant will not be available for the cooking class this year. It was suggested that we ask Emile if he will give a cooking class in our new kitchen instead. Mary Ellen will do that after the first of the year.
Mary Ellen also reported that she and Julie had visited the Holy Name retreat house. They liked it and decided to rent it for Saturday February 17th from 9:30 to 3:30. It will cost $75.00 to rent it for the day. It will cost $9.50 per person for lunch. We will pay Eileen a stipend of $150.00 for leading us that day. Therefore we decided to charge $25.00 per person to attend the retreat. Any profit will go into the treasury. We decided to invite women outside the church as well as women who are in the church but are not members of the women’s group. Mary Ellen will put this in the newsletter. The women in the club will provide a continental breakfast. Diane will collect checks.
Joan agreed to chair the Spaghetti Dinner. It will be held January 26, 2007. Nancy Jo and Jan Geist will cook Spaghetti Sauce again. Joan will call to ask for volunteers for serving. That committee will meet in early January to make final plans. We decided to charge $7.50 per person, $20.00 for families. Children under six years will eat free. We decided to have Wine, Milk, coffee, Tea, and Water to drink. We will serve individual cheesecakes for dessert.
Joan reminded us to pull the plug on the new coffee pot when coffee gets low, as it burns up the coffee pot when left on too long. It was suggested that we make the coffee and immediately put it into pump pots. Joan will look into that.
Joan talked about choices for furnishing the kitchen. She suggested that people consider donating stainless steel pitchers, pump pots or carafes, teakettle, frying pans, measuring cups, trivets, wooden spoons, spatulas. Call Mary to make a donation.
Fern reported that the new counter-tops will be put in on Friday, November 10. The cupboards will be finished as soon as the replacement touch-up kits arrive.
We discussed having the program to celebrate the new kitchen on January 26. There will be a skit and we will sing last year’s song.
For the Christmas Potluck, main dishes will be brought by the women’s group. Dorothy Ellis will design and make table decorations. NancyJo, Janis, and Jan Geist will set up and decorate the tables. Everyone will help with cleanup. Jackie and John will make coffee.
We have been asked to clean the Pews on 12/02 (All church clean-up day). We decided that they actually need to be refinished and cleaning doesn’t help much. We decided that Fern will bring it up in the trustees meeting. Mary Ellen, Del, Jackie, and Fern will try cleaning them anyway on 12/02. It was suggested that we also clean the corners of the Sanctuary.
Brenda agreed to do the Giving Tree again.
There will be no Women’s group meeting in December.
The January meeting will be at Fern’s home.
Nancy Jo will give the January devotional. Respectfully submitted,
Del Mahrle
